About UTTRAKHAND OPEN UNIVERSITY:

Higher education is the most important driver of growth in our knowledge-based economy. To remain active contributors to growth in this period, we must at least double the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER). Many policymakers, commissions, and wise citizens have recognised this reality. The National Knowledge Commission has published important documents highlighting higher education's crucial function. The function of the Open and Distance Learning System (ODL) becomes crucial and distinctive in this environment. The global experience demonstrates that the ODL system is a successful instrument for educationally empowering many parts of society who, for one reason or another, have missed conventional 'face-to-face' schooling.

To make remote learning more successful, the University employs unique instructional programmes, numerous ways of communication technologies, and interaction sessions. The University's main goal is to meet the educational demands of the target groups in order to build competent and knowledge-based human resources for the State's rapid upliftment and development. The University strives to provide high-quality education by upholding high academic standards.

Strictly in line with the philosophy of the ODL device, Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) was established on 31.10.2005 by an Act of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly (Act No. 23 of 2005) with the goal of disseminating knowledge and competencies via distance learning, the use of flexible and revolutionary training strategies to ensure 'Independent Learning'.
