ABOUT SWAMI KESHWANAND RAJASTHAN AGRICULTURE UNIVERSITY:

By Gazette notice No. F. 4 (2) vidhi/ 2/ 2009 issued June 09, 2009, the RAU was renamed Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner (SKRAU, Bikaner) in honour of Swami Keshwanand, who was born in the hamlet of Magloona in the Sikar district of modern-day Rajasthan in 1883. Birama was his real name. Birama, then 16 years old, was compelled by the famine of 1899 to leave the desert region and relocate to Punjab in search of work. He joined the Udasin sec. in 1904 and became a sanyasi, motivated by an indescribable spiritual yearning. His schooling started at the Sadhu Ashram Fazilka. Birama received the new name "Swami Keshwanand" from Mahatma Hiranandji Avadhut at the Kumbha Mela held in Prayag in 1905.

Swami Keshwanand was a multifaceted independence warrior, educator, Hindi propagandist, and social reformer who had a successful life.

Although there have been recent revisions, the fundamental structure has not changed.
