About RABINDRA BHARTI UNIVERSITY:

Rabindra Bharati University, established on May 8, 1962, under the RabindraBharati Act of the Government of West Bengal, 1961, to commemorate the centennial of the poet Rabindranath Tagore's birth, is the city of Kolkata's third university. This temple of learning dedicated to the poet's memory, as conceived by Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal, has been able to justify its existence to a large extent as a center for promoting, extending, and disseminating Tagore's ideas in various branches of Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Humanities, and Social Science.

The Rabindra Bharati University intends to widen its academic scope in response to modern requirements and to demonstrate how education in a globalised world order may be accessed to those members of future generations who do not have easy access to higher education. The University administration always provides its best assistance in achieving the goals that this University has set for itself. Some of our administrative goals have been met, while others are being aggressively pursued. For example, we have successfully digitised the admissions process to promote openness, and the green administration process has begun.

It has gained the University a name, and therefore confidence, in displaying an education system that has thus far flourished without the backing of pure science and technology as curriculum, and which continues to serve its students by allowing them to ensure their future in the world at large.

RABINDRA BHARTI UNIVERSITY VISION:
Rabindra Bharati University was founded to propagate Tagore's ideas on education. Thus, the academic programmes embody Tagore's vision in their purpose to spread Tagorean culture and its modern relevance through curricular features in the Faculties of Arts, Fine Arts, and Visual Arts. Tagore Studies/ RabindraCharcha is a required course in the undergraduate curriculum.
