ABOUT MAHARISHI MARKANDDESHWAR UNIVERSITY:
The lush green Maharishi Markandeshwar University is perfectly situated on the Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway at Sultanpur Road, Solan (H.P. ), in the lap of the majestic Himalayan's "devbhoomi," and spans an area of 47 acres with unique surroundings of green hills. On February 22, 2009, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal Ji, lay the foundation stone for the university, which had been established as a multi-faculty institution in honour of Maharishi Markandeshwar Ji, a revered student of Lord Shiva. With his approval, the University began accepting students for the School of Engineering & Technology, School of Computer Technology, and School of Business Management in the academic year 2010–2011.
The MM University Trust (previously known as the MM Education Trust, Ambala) has developed a new, vibrant campus at Sadopur on the Delhi-Chandigarh National Highway in the suburbs of Ambala toward Chandigarh as part of its expansion programme in order to revitalise the educational system and offer professional education to the people of the surrounding area. The Educational Institute/Academy will offer programmes in medical sciences, dental sciences, nursing, fashion technology, etc. in the years to come with a focus on research in emerging fields, starting with the courses in the areas of engineering and technology, business management, and computer technology with effect from the session 2010–11 onward.
