About KALYANI UNIVERSITY:

Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, our previous Chief Minister, conceived of Kalyani as a satellite township under the long-term perspective plan of the Calcutta Urban Agglomeration. The necessity for education and health infrastructure was underlined in a Master Plan created for the development of this municipality. The University of Kalyani was founded in 1960 with the goal of meeting one component of this requirement. Founded as a unitary university with faculties of Arts, Science, Education, and Agriculture, it has expanded to include 62 associated institutions in the districts of Nadia and Murshidabad.

Since its foundation, the University has drawn students from the area and beyond, as evidenced by the University's illustrious alumni list, which includes prominent scientists, intellectuals, artists, athletes, and people's representatives. The University was divided in 1975, during its early stages of development, with the Faculty of Agriculture becoming an autonomous Agricultural University, the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya in Mohanpur, Nadia. Following the division, the University of Kalyani maintained the previously established teaching departments of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Zoology under the Faculty of Science, and Education, Economics, Physical Education, and Sociology under the Faculty of Arts and Commerce.

In addition to the teaching and research departments, the University has affiliations with various institutions that provide extension-related services through a variety of certificate courses and degrees. Under the auspices of the RUSA grant, the University has established 43 Certificate Courses aimed at business development, with the building of an Entrepreneurship Hub on campus in the works.

Admission Process for the KALYANI UNIVERSITY:
The qualifying requirements for admission to KALYANI UNIVERSITY are as follows:
• The University of Kalyani's B.Tech eligibility criteria for the programme specify that candidates must have passed the 12TH/HSC exam. In addition, candidates must have completed the WBJEE test in order to be admitted to the programme.
• Candidates are chosen based on their performance in prior qualifying examinations. The admission exam was followed by a personal interview.
• BA eligibility standards for the programme specify that candidates must have passed their intermediate examinations with a minimum of 45% in aggregate and 55% in subjects connected to a recognised institution in order to be admitted to the course.

KALYANI UNIVERSITY FACULTY:
The University Library system was established in 1961, following the foundation of the University of Kalyani in 1960. The current library building was dedicated in 1979. The Central Library now has a total space of 2805sq.m with its eco-friendly green campus. Central Library has a rich collection of both physical and electronic resources to meet the needs of its user population. The SOUL 2.0 integrated library management software is used to manage the library's physical resources. Along with the book database (almost 1.5 lac), the library maintains a back volume journal database, a theses database, special collections, and so on, all of which are OPAC enabled.
