ABOUT JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY:
The top institution in India and a famous hub for both teaching and research is Jawaharlal Nehru University. JNU was placed third among all institutions in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Government of India, in 2016 and second in 2017. JNU was ranked first in India by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a Grade Point of 3.91 (on a scale of 4) in 2017. The President of India also gave JNU the 2017 Best University Award.

The strength, vigour, and reputation of Jawaharlal Nehru University—a still-young institution that was created by a Parliamentary act in 1966—come from the conviction that the study of ideas is a field for exploration, experimentation, and never-ending inquiry and that the plurality of viewpoints serves as the foundation for such inquiry. JNU is the destination for those who are intellectually restless, insatiably curious, and rigorous, allowing them the room to develop within the peace of an oasis and a green lung despite the noise and throng of India's capital city.

Three years after being established by Parliament, JNU was founded in 1969, bringing to the Indian university system new fields and fresh views on established ones. The exceptional 1:10 teacher-student ratio, the manner of instruction that encourages students to explore their own creativity rather than replicating learned material, and the practise of solely internal evaluation were also novel in the Indian academic environment and have endured. The very Nehruvian goals of "national integration, social justice, secularism, the democratic way of life, international understanding, and a scientific approach to the problems of society" that were incorporated into the University's founding had built into them a constant and ardent effort to renew knowledge through self-questioning.

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY VISION:
To reach the pinnacles of excellence in knowledge and learning dissemination in order to foster global competence and support national development by producing skilled labour.

JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY MISSION:
The University will work to enhance the social, economic, and cultural conditions of disadvantaged rural and suburban residents.
