About ICFAI UNIVERSITY:

The ICFAI University, Tripura (hence referred to as the University) was founded in 2004 by a State Legislature Act (Tripura Act 8 of 2004). According to Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, the University Grants Commission has given its approval.

According to their letter No. F.9-7/2006 (CPP-I) dated October 30, 2006, the University Grants Commission (UGC) maintains a list of universities under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, which includes the ICFAI University, Tripura. The ICFAI University, Tripura's programmes have received approval from the Distance Education Council (DEC).

The Bar Council of India has given its clearance for ICFAI University, Tripura to provide three- and five-year law programmes and grant legal degrees. Through its constituent college, the Faculty of Education, the university has been given NCTE accreditation to provide the Bachelors Program in Education. The NCTE's list of authorised institutions includes the ICFAI University in Tripura.

The Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), a division of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, has granted permission to the university to provide the bachelor's programme in education through its constituent institution, the Faculty of Special Education. The RCI list of recognised institutions includes the ICFAI University, Tripura.
