ABOUT HARCOUT BUTLER TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY:

Since its founding in 1921, Harcourt Butler Technical University (formerly known as Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur) has consistently served as an example and a source of inspiration in the fields of science and technology. The Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur, has since been promoted to University status in accordance with Act No. 11 of 2016 by the government of Uttar Pradesh (HBTU, Kanpur). With the goal of becoming a "Centre of Excellence" with a focus on research and development, incubation, and other professional courses in the fields of engineering, technology, basic and applied sciences, humanities, social science, and management, the university was founded with the intention of becoming a leading residential university starting on September 1, 2016.

The University has four academic departments: the School of Engineering (SoE), the School of Chemical Technology (SoCT), the School of Basic & Applied Sciences (SoBAS), and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SoHSS). The university offers one undergraduate programme in Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) and thirteen undergraduate programmes in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Leather Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Food Technology, Oil Technology, Paint Technology, and Plastic Technology (B.Tech.). It also provides an M.Tech. programmes covering eleven specialties.

Additionally, it offers three conventional graduate degrees in three streams: a normal Master of Computer Application (M.C.A. ), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Science (M.Sc (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). Additionally, the university provides PhD programmes across all fields. The University's Civil, Mechanical, Electronics, and Chemical Engineering departments have all been designated as Quality Improvement Program (QIP) Centers for Ph.D. programmes.

The university offers a welcoming atmosphere for students' holistic development, allowing them to grow into well-rounded individuals with teamwork, communication, and aptitude skills that are accepted internationally.
