About DR. SHAYAMA PRASAD MUKHERJEE UNIVERSITY:

During the Pre-Independent India, Ranchi College, Ranchi (now upgraded as a Unitary State University and known as Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi) had been founded. It was located on the tropic of cancer at an altitude of 651 metres above sea level amidst tropical flora and wildlife. The Government Intermediate College, founded in 1926, advanced and started offering undergraduate and graduate courses in a variety of arts and sciences fields in 1946.
Ranchi College carried on honouring its designation as a Government College even after Independence. Prior to the establishment of Ranchi University on July 12, 1960, Ranchi served as a division of Patna University and provided top-notch higher education in the fields of humanities, science, and social science.

Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, which spans 110 acres of land in the centre of Jharkhand's capital city, has an impressive building architecture, a solid human resource base, well-furnished labs, digitally equipped classrooms, a language lab for the development of communicative skills, attractive classrooms (some of which are heritage classrooms), expanded gardens, and botanical gardens that extend to a nearby oxygen park.
We are proud to be situated in a state that appreciates sports, art, and culture. We have an amphitheatre called AKHRA for promoting folk and tribal dance, as well as separate, sizable playgrounds for games and sports that have produced several athletes of renown both domestically and internationally.
